And Then I Wake Up...

Chapter 2

Jensen was still smiling when he walked into his apartment. It was unexpected and weird, but that guy he met in the park had been…well, adorable, and he honestly couldn’t wait until tomorrow to see him again. Jensen set his guitar down in the corner and walked towards his bedroom, more thrilled than usual that his roommate wasn’t home. He liked Tom, but sometimes he could be such a dick, and if he saw Jensen this happy he would undoubtedly try to find a way to ruin it. Or, at the very least, make fun of him mercilessly. Jensen shut his bedroom door behind him and started getting undressed. He threw his cell on the bed and noticed that he had a message. He yawned as he checked his texts and saw that his father had messaged him.

The man started to chew on his lip. His father was considered rock royalty and Jensen hadn’t known him that long so it still made him uncomfortable every time he spoke to him, whether that talking was in person or over technology. Tom thought that Jensen’s father should be giving him tons of money for never being there while he grew up. But Jensen couldn’t fault him. The man didn’t even know Jensen existed until a few years ago when his mother finally told Jensen who his father was and then told his father as well. Ever since, the man had been trying to have a relationship with his son, but Jensen insisted that he didn’t give him money because in his mind, that wouldn’t fix anything.

He took a moment to text his friend Chad to tell him that he met someone in the park and that he was definitely someone he wanted to see again. He sent the message and then frowned at his own over-excitement, throwing the phone back on the bed with his father’s message still unanswered. Jensen figured he would text him after his shower or sometime later. The young musician grabbed a towel off of the chair that he seemed to load his laundry on and headed into the bathroom. After turning on the water, Jensen stared at his face in the mirror for a moment, trying to see what it was that the guy in the park found so interesting. He was pale, had freckles which he hated and his lips were pinker than most people’s…again something Jensen was self-conscious about. He shook his head and rolled his eyes. It didn’t matter what it was that Jared liked so much, he liked him and Jensen would see him tomorrow. The grin was back on his face as he got into the shower, starting to sing again as he thought about his new friend.

Tom was home when Jensen got out of the shower, and he of course had Mike with him. Mike was always with him, and in fact, was something of a sidekick.

“Hey guys!” Jensen called out before heading into the kitchen to grab a beer, pulling two more for his friends. He walked over to them and handed out the bottles, nodding once as Mike thanked him. And then Tom decided to ‘thank’ him by pulling him into his lap, which Jensen freaking hated. Tom was bigger than him and liked to prove that point a lot, and there was nothing that annoyed Jensen more than being manhandled.

“Hey Jenny. What’s up?” Tom smiled his perfect smile and shook his almost black hair out of his bright green eyes. Mike stared at Tom with such devotion - it actually creeped Jensen out a lot, mostly because he didn’t understand it. One of the perks of a limited love life, he figured.

“Nothing, just got home a little while ago, left work early. Nothing was going on so I closed the clinic and came home. And don’t call me Jenny you know I hate it.” Jensen smiled and tried to get out of Tom’s lap, but instead of letting him go Tom tried to yank him closer.

“No sick puppies or kittens to take care of this afternoon Jenny?” Tom asked, obviously not caring that Jensen hated the nickname, as his hands tried to slide over Jensen’s chest, which Jensen prevented.

Jensen winced as he realized Tom was high, which meant Mike was too…Fuck. “Nope no patients today, I’m going to get up now, okay?” he said as he patted Tom’s arm and made a stronger effort to get up. Tom’s arms fell away as he stood and he breathed a sigh of relief as he walked over to his guitar to take it into his room. It was best to avoid them when they were high; they tended to be a bit...weird.

The two of them laughed with each other on the couch before Tom got up and walked towards Jensen, grabbing his arm and turning him to face him. “Hey Jenny…um…why don’t you stay out here with us, have some fun for once instead of locking yourself up in that bedroom of yours?”

If Tom hadn’t been high he might have stayed out with them and had some possible fun, but they were both on something and Jensen didn’t like the way they were acting. Highly creepy. “Um no, I actually have to get ready because I’m going out.” He lied smoothly, figuring it would be better to be gone than home right now.

Tom frowned at him and then glanced back at Mike who was fussing with something on the couch and then started walking closer. “C’mon, we never spend time together,” Tom pouted, tilting his head at him. Tom was devastatingly handsome. Actually, he was trying to be a model. And as such, he knew how to use every expression to get what he wanted. But it didn’t work on Jensen, as they’d been friends for a long time and Jensen just wasn’t attracted to him. Sometimes he thought it would be easier if he was attracted to Tom, since he could have him in a second and that would solve his little “dating problem” - or what his friends and mother called his dating problem, anyway. But then, sometimes he wondered why they were friends at all. Then again, Tom wasn’t always like this. In fact, most of the time he was a normal guy who was a good friend. But when he was high, it was almost like he was evil.

Jensen started to shake his head and then yelped slightly when he felt a sharp pain in his other arm that Tom wasn’t holding. “What…what did you just do?” Jensen asked as he looked back at Mike.

Tom grinned at him and let go of his arm. “We just gave you something to help you relax, it’s new from the club…you’re gonna love it Jenny.”

The world was tilting and swirling; Tom looked positively disturbing, laughing and it looked like he was surrounded by a horrible sickly bright green fire and the scariest part was the edges of his vision were dark and that darkness was closing in quickly.

“Tom….you know I can’t….drugs and I….bad…” Jensen was trying to speak but the drug and his own fear were stopping him, Jensen had a bad reaction to most prescription drugs and illegal drugs he found out early on did not work in his system. As the blackness was taking over, his last thought was how disappointed Jared was going to be if he didn’t show up the next day.
